YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad organized a seminar on “Higher Education in Haryana – A Perspective on Quality” in which Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala, Chairman of Haryana State Higher Education Council was the keynote speaker. The programme was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar informed about the initiatives taken by the University in the field of technical education for qualitative improvement. He said that the University is known for its qualitative educational standards in technical education. The University is amongst top technical institutions in the State of Haryana. The alumni of the University are leading top companies in the Country. Addressing the seminar, Prof. Kuthiala said that with ever changing increasing expectations of stakeholders and ever changing market scenario, maintaining quality in higher education is challenging, but more importantly, it should be focused on its objectives. He said that the aim of higher education is to focus on knowledge, livelihood and life. Education should be such that the students get latest knowledge and this knowledge could become a medium for earning livelihood. It is important to acquire knowledge and to earn livelihood, but the basic purpose of education is to development of personality so that the person could be able to make ethical decisions in his life, he added. In the end, Prof. Dinesh Kumar presented a memento to Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala as a mark of remembrance. The programme conducted under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and coordinated by Director, Youth Welfare Dr. Pradeep Kumar under the supervision of Dean (Institutions) Prof. Sandeep Grover. under the supervision of Sandeep Grover. Earlier, Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala the inaugurated the newly-built Examination Wing of the University and planted a sapling in the University premises as a part of ‘Adopt a Tree Campaign’, which has been launched by the Vasundhara-The Environment Society (M.Sc. Environmental Sciences). Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar also planted the sapling on this occasion and encouraged the students of Environmental Science for their initiative to create awareness on environmental issues. The newly constructed Examination Wing has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 81 lacs with covered area of 6500 sq. ft. on the second floor of General Electrical Workshop. Before shifting to new wing, the Examination Branch was functional in two small rooms. The branch deals the examination related activities of all the Engineering Colleges of Faridabad and Palwal affiliated to the University apart from in-house Examination. Therefore, it has become necessary to strengthen the office of Controller of Examination with sufficient space for storage of record and maintaining the secrecy.  The newly constructed wing is fully air conditioned and provided with good working ambiance to the staff. The Examination wing is equipped with CCTV cameras, fire fighting system and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) based entry system for the staff and students.  Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala expressed his delight on the quality of work, design and aesthetics of the newly built Examination Wing. Speaking on this occasion, Vice Chancellor said that each and every penny has been spent wisely and judiciously. He stressed on the fact that building an asset is easier than maintaining one and said that it is now the onerous responsibility of each member of the University to maintain the facilities. Dean (Institutions) Prof. Sandeep Grover, Controller of Examination Dr. Hari Om, Dean and Chairperson of all the Departments and other functionaries of the University were also present on this occasion. Earlier, Prof. Dinesh Kumar took Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala for a tour of newly constructed projects, various workshops and other facilities of the University. EOM
