TODAY EXPRESS NEWS New Delhi, July 04, 2017 ( Report Ajay verma )  : IMS Noida, one of the leading management institutes of India, carried out an advanced industry panel discussion on “Industry 4.0: Opportunities and Challenges for the Indian Workforce” organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and supported by International Computer Driving License (ICDL) held at PHD Chamber of Commerce, New Delhi. ICDL is world’s leading computer skills certification and its effort was to sensitize the Indian enterprises about the 4th Industrial revolution that is staring at us. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Ajay Kumar, IAS Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.

The panel was hosted and moderated by Dr. KJS Anand, Executive Director IMS Noida and he shared that “The future is of interconnected machines that can be virtually integrated in real time with Augmented Reality or Human Interface. Such a Cyber-Physical system would be able to read efficiency slacks, possible downtimes/shifting bottlenecks, New Demand Centres, Dynamic Pricing, Worrying Health Statistics on the fly and update unrelated remote systems with ease. The downside, however, is that ransom attacks are likely to increase in the future and such interconnected machinery could bring the any enterprise to a standstill. Therefore, cyber security and personal data privacy are extremely critical. The youth needs to be trained on digital skills, cyber security skills, technology application skills and analytical skills.”

The event began with the opening remarks by Dr. Jatinder Singh, Sr. Secretary, PHD Chamber and             Mr. Harish Ahuja, President, Strategy & Corporate affairs, Hindustan Power Projects which was followed by a Keynote address by Dr. Ajay Kumar on the importance of bringing Industry 4.0 to higher level of priority. Subsequently, Mr. Damien O’Sullivan, CEO, ICDL Foundation expressed his views on the increasing use of technology at workplaces.

The panelists enlightened the importance of new changes relevant for Industry 4.0 and also discussed about the six design principles of Industry 4.0 including Interoperability, Virtualization and Decentralization areas that can help to guide the workforce in a better way. IT digital skills have already become a survival skill and its applications are increasing at a multifold speed thus making it a staple. Even the complementary areas like Big Data Analytics, Data Security, Legal Aspects of Data Exchange and Consumer privacy are booming and would provide a significant area for professional growth.
